If you're new to BLAST this year, here's a basic summary.  BLAST stands for Building Leaders And Sharing Talents.  BLAST showcases our students talent and gives them a chance to compete against one another in different areas between music ability, arts, sports, etc.  BLAST competition first takes place at the district level, and then the top scorers in each category get an opportunity to compete at the Regional Level at MVNU against students from all over Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky June 11-13.  This is one of the events that excites my students more than anything else.  It gives them an opportunity to grow together through the competitions while still forming relationships all across the District Level.  BLAST also has done more to connect the students that are a little sporadic to the rest of the group than anything else that we have done as a youth ministry.  So that's the why, and here are the details.

BLAST will take place Saturday April 4th at the Maysville Church of the Nazarene. Registration will take place between 8:30 and 9:30 with events beginning at 9:30, I'll send out a schedule as we get closer to the date.

To register you must log onto to www.mvnu.edu/blast.  From there you must click on the online registration form link at the left side of the page, next you must click on church registration for District event also on the left side of the page.  Next select our District (EKY) and the church that you are registering for.  From here you are able to add students who are competing, and any others who are spectating or adults who are also attending. When you add a participant you must then put in all the relevant information of their information and what events they are going to be participating in.  If your student is between 7th-9th Grade then they will be in the early youth category, while those in 10th-12th are in the Senior Youth Category.

In order for us to be able to plan as effectively as possible, there are some incentives to registering early.  Early Bird Registration cost is $25 and that registration closes on March 18th.  Regular Registration cost is $30 and that registration closes on April 1st.  All other registration qualify for late registration and will be $40.  If you are an adult or a spectator the registration fee is simply $10, this is just to cover T-Shirt costs.  Fees don't change for this registration, but early registration is appreciated.  So get this information out to your students and get them registered as early as you can, this helps a ton for planning and ordering T-Shirts.

If you have one of the traveling trophies please bring them back to Maysville this year so that we can carry on that tradition.  We've got a lot of exciting things planned for this years BLAST, so get the word out and get everyone registered.  If you have any questions or registration problems feel free to shoot me an email at kevinjack@maysvilleky.net.  We are also always in need of volunteers so if you have anyone who has any expertise (By expertise I mean any experience whatsoever) in judging, reffing, or just about anything please let me know who is willing to help in which areas so we can plan accordingly.  I'll be sending out an e-mail as we get closer to let you know schedules, and also some information on local restaurants, and anything else you need to know.

Thanks for all you do and see you April 4th

It's Finally Here! Your First official BLAST letter.  I think I might have just put it off because I felt like I talked about BLAST to my students for about 5 months last year and so I just didn't want to accept that it was upon us again. But here is what you need to know for BLAST this year.
